Eventful holidays in the middle of a long and beautiful island
It won't be a surprise to anyone that "Langeland" (the long land) is long - more than 60 km from north to south and only 11 km from east to west at the broadest point at the island. Only 8 km from the "Færgegårdens Camping" you'll find the old market town Rudkøbing, main town of Langeland.
The coast line of Langeland is the host of many beautiful beaches. But the unique moraine country with more than 1000 hills provides the opportunity of exploring a variety of a special landscape by foot, bike or car. All over the island you'll find this very special idyllic countryside only found on Langeland and at the surrounding small islands.
Even in the peak season it is possible to find "your own little beach".
A stay in the "Færgegårdens Camping" is of course more than nature and relaxation at the beach. Odense, the capital of Funen, is only one hour away by car. The pearl of southern Funen, the town Svendborg, is less than half an hour away and you can reach the "Egeskov Castle" in 45 minutes.
The native town of H.C. Ørsted (the physicist and chemist who discovered magnetism) with its cobbles an ancient houses - an extraordinary sight. In other words...
You are not far from anything. The archipelago of southern Funen lies open with a lot of opportunities of exploration, e.g. a stroll in Rudkøbing the oldest market town in Denmark from the twelfth century also the native town of H.C. Ørsted, then a visit to the island Taasinge with the "Castle of King Valdemar" or perhaps a trip to the beautiful islands Ærø and Strynø.
But before you go that far there are many places to visit on Langeland: Museums, galleries, long barrows and passage graves. What about a visit to "Aquarium Langeland" and the mini zoo an experience for all members in the family.
At your arrival at the camping site....
... you'll get a guide of Langeland with a thorough description of all the possibilities you have as a visitor on the island.
